I went to the hospital at 9:15 Tuesday morning, I left around 7:00 that evening. It was a long day for my family and myself. But getting rid of cancer was worth it. My family offered wonderful support then and afterwards.
Yesterday was the turning point for me. The first 2 days of post op were challenging. Why? Because I love good food. From Monday midnight until Thursday night all I could handle was a a couple of spoonfuls of chicken noodle soup and a maybe a third of a KFC pot pie. Friday, I was ready for food! I was able to eat a entire piece of toast with jelly for breakfast and finished the pot pie for lunch. It tasted great. Then back to normal eating from dinner on. I do have to say I was a bit disappointed when I got on the scales and after all the lack of food and had only lost 4 pounds.
This morning I got up by myself and made my coffee, or as some call it, my flavorings with a little coffee. A few years back I visited a local coffee shop that offered a coffee called Heavenly. I recreate it every morning. One pump each of Sugar Free Vanilla, White Chocolate, and Caramel syrups, along with a generous splash of Caramel Macchiato creamer along with 10 oz. of coffee. It is truly a heavenly way to start my day.
It is important to recognize the little things that makes our lives better. Things like a good cup of coffee to start my day, hot water for a shower, a bed to sleep on, and people around you, whether geographically close or miles apart who have prayed for me. I have a facebook friend who we have communicated for quite a few years but have never met. I have fellow Magnolia Design Co Creators whom I have only “met” via social media praying for me. Social media is often considered to be negative, but there a lot of good that can come from it.
While speaking with my Radiation Oncologist the day before my surgery I explained that I had a sense of peace with my cancer fight and felt safe with God’s plan, whatever it was. I mentioned how I had personally experienced the power of pray when years ago precancerous cells disappeared between procedures that were performed. The doctor and pathologist could not understand what happened. I did. The power of prayer. My doctor then shared about a blind medical study that had been conducted a few years back. A group of patients were being treated, some were being prayed for by name, some were not. The doctors, medical staff, nor the patients were aware of the study. The patients that were prayed for healed faster and progressed further than the ones who were not prayed for. So…the next time you see a request for prayer on social media, take the time to send up a prayer for the person by name. If you have a prayer list, add them to it. If you do not know what to pray, here is a simple prayer you can use. “We pray that you would give (name) strength and courage to face the challenges he/she is facing. We ask that you would give him/her hope and peace in the midst of his/her struggles. We ask that you would provide for his/her physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.” Simple as that.
Today my goal is not to tackle too much and to open my craft supplies I recently received and even maybe craft a little.
