The waiting for an appointment to determine the next steps to address my cancer can be challenging at times. After all, I am not known for my abundance of patience. In fact, I have a ball cap that I made which reads “Patience Loading, Please Wait”. Waiting 4 1/2 days to get to my appointment is challenging, UGH!
During these 4 1/2 days, I am experiencing times where I question what is in my immediate future. My family and I have several trips planned for the next few months, as well as Celebration. (Celebration is an annual gathering of my fellow creators, where we learn about new tools and socialize.) Along with questions comes bouts of tears, bouts of fear and bouts of shaking which is nerves. This was NOT the way I had thought this weekend would go.
I also had times of laughter and self satisfaction as a few ladies came to my home and we crafted. I was able to see happiness, acceptance, support and a sense of accomplishment. The gathering consisted of two people designing tee shirts with stencils and ink. Another person created a focal point for her yoga sessions using an old window and stencils. I love how crafting has brought these women into my life, and who I now call friends.

Did you know crafting, whether it is knitting, painting, or sewing actually has been confirmed to:
•Reduced Stress
•Relieves Depression and Anxiety
•Helps Build Self Esteem
•Decreased Risk of Cognitive Impairment as a Person Ages
•Can Help With Insomnia
•Builds Community and Friendships Can Help With Grief Processing
I will share in future blogs how crafting helps me thru the journey. If you know someone that might benefit from reading this blog, please share the link. I am posting in the blog not to benefit myself, but to hopefully let other people on the same journey know they are not alone, and their similar feelings are normal.
