Crafting delivers quite a few health benefits. Today I need it more than usual. I experienced breast cancer in 2001. The rule of thumb is if you go 10 years without it re-occuring, you are out of the woods. At least that is what I was told. Well my thumb just got broke and I received notice today that I once again have breast cancer.

In 2001, I was blessed with a wonderful HMO who took great care of me. My oncologist even tried to give me a prescription for a cranial prosthesis so the insurance would pay. Needless to say, the insurance company saw through the attempt and declined to pay for a wig. I have a couple of fun stories I can share in the future about my fun times with my wigs, or lack there of.

I will meet with the medical professionals next week to determine the next steps we need to take. My goal is to share my journey with others going thru the same thing.

Because of the crafting community I have with my fellow Creators from Magnolia Design Co., I already am receiving well wishes and prayers. There is also a group of local women who come to my workshops who are reaching out and offering support. Although I have wonderful family members who are helping, it is nice to have people outside of my family supporting me.

in 2001, there was no Facebook or other social media sites to allow me to connect to other people. This time around, I am sure my journey will be easier because of the connections and support. Another opportunity for easing my progress is crafting. Crafting will allow me to focus on my project and not my discomfort. It will also allow me to experience a sense of accomplishment when i complete a project. Gathering with other crafters will give me a chance to laugh and socialize.

I would be honored to have you follow my journey.

I’ll be following along. I am a survivor and know at any time I could hear the word Cancer again. I don’t worry about the future because I know who holds my hand. God Bless you on this journey and remember he walks it with you all the way. Jesus loves you and so do I. Before anyone says anything I love her even though. I have never met her. That’s how it should be. If anytime you need a friend to talk with. I’m here.

Thank you for your love as a sister in faith. God has worked miracles in my life and I am confident He has a plan and I am comfortable with it. He even made precancerous cells disappear a few years ago. The doctor nor pathologist could understand where they went. It was easy for me to understand, it was His plan. From falling into a fire, and being shot, to car accidents that should/ could have killed me to this, I know He had his arms around me.
