Forgotten but Not Gone

Observing this photo from Vashon Island in Washington, one cannot help but be drawn to the tree, serving as a nonchalant support for a seemingly forgotten bike.

In all honesty, this blog slipped my mind. Prior to this week, the last time I poured thoughts onto these digital pages was in 2012. Were it not for someone recently suggesting the creation of a blog, it might have remained dormant for another eleven years. Reflecting on the past decade, it’s astonishing to recount the myriad changes that have woven into the fabric of my life.

We constructed a new home, briefly embraced it, then parted with it, embarking on a journey that led us to another state. This pattern repeated itself as we settled into a multi-generational dwelling. Along the way, final farewells were bid to cherished members of our immediate family. We transitioned from one beloved church to contribute to the planting of another, only to relocate to a different state and find a new spiritual home.

I went from being a grandmother of seven to a great-grandmother of three. Retirement made its entrance thrice for me, while my husband gracefully bowed out twice. Life, with it’s unpredictable splendor, has a way of diverting one’s attention from cherished pursuits. Much like the boy who left his bike leaning against a tree, I left this blog in a state of neglect.

But now, I am back. By subscribing to my blog, I extend an invitation for you to join me on this rekindled journey. Perhaps amidst the written reflections, you’ll find something that resonates with you. The lesson learned echoes: Never forget to make room for the pursuits you love. While a career holds significance, it is not the entirety of life’s narrative.
