This photo is simple but reflects many things. The coffee mug was purchased by a friend years ago. Despite being miles apart physically, we are still close in our hearts. The pastry came from a Korean Bakery in Ga. It was a gift from my daughter and daughter-in-law. They love to be adventurous with foods, while I am a little more reserved. While looking at the pastry, I noticed how the crust had a pretty shine on it, along with what looked like a light, flaky texture. It looked delicious. I knew it was filled with something but was not sure what it was. I felt a little intimidated to try it.
This reminded me of life. God will plant the seed of a dream in our minds, and maybe even in our hearts. We imagine how wonderful it looks and think about how great it would be to achieve the dream. But then, just like my hesitation to cut into the pastry for fear I might not like the filling, the thoughts of what it will take to achieve the dream cause us to hesitate.
The filling in the pastry was definitely different. I was expecting a fruit filling but found it was something else. It was almost like reaching for a glass of tea only to discover it is soda. The first thought is, “Wow, what did I just taste?” Just like the steps to our dreams can make us stop and wonder what we are doing. Sometimes, our fear causes us to give up on our dream immediately. I took a second bite of my pastry and determined it was a spiced meat filling. It was different than what I had expected. However, after a few bites, I decided that I think I liked it.
Sometimes we get stuck in our routines and find it hard to step outside of them. By getting out of our comfort zone, we get to experience and grow. Are you ready to step out of the comfortable box you are in and reach for your dream?

What are your thoughts?
